In 2013, MP Robert Borsak said that the culture war over gun control in Australia which began after gun control legislation following the Port Arthur Massacre was changing, as people people were beginning to 'get over it.' Borsak believed that some of the semi automatic weapons banned under legislation should be put back into the hands of hunters and shooters. He pushed for changes in legislation and was involved in trying to push to allow hunting in National Parks. *1
The Port Arthur Massacre in 1996, was a tragedy in which 35 people were killed and 23 injured. The sweeping reforms to ban semi automatic rifles and pump action shotguns was a remarkable moment of leadership in Australia.
This is one of the weapons used in the attack. There are 35 erasers. This piece offers a way to look at weapons and attempts to focus the relationship between weapons, representations of weapons and society.

The Kalashnikov (also referred to as the AK-47) is said to be the most prolific weapons in the world today (2016). It is known to be used in 105 countries to date. Each rubber cartridge represents one of those countries.
At the time of production there are nearly 51 million displaced persons worldwide, half of which are children. Witness to war replacing their formal education.
