Brigid Vidler was born in Sydney, Australia. She works in London and Sydney.
STATEMENT
Vidler's works are vignettes, phrases in a broader conversation between art, science, the environment and society.
Vidler's work explores how humans have collectively re-shaped the planet and ushered in a new geological age - the Anthropocene. Her work is deliberately small inviting close and quiet reflection. She is interested in ideas of value and time, which is reflected through the choice of material and method. Her small scale wood carvings and casts integrate everyday objects , selected for their socio cultural significance, such as cans, old textiles and household plastics to reflect upon how production, consumption and disposal of objects impacts the planet and its inhabitants.
