Brigid Vidler was born in Sydney, Australia. She is currently living and working London, UK and occasionally in Sydney.

STATEMENT
Art is the processing of information, the accumulation of ideas, snippets of conversations, news articles, thoughts, sensations re-presented in another form.  Each piece driven by a desire to understand and more importantly, to question. Social justice, inextricably linked to  the environment is a recurring theme in this work.

Through process, and material ideas of time and resource are explored. The inordinate focus on time in relation to the individual.... ie, 'my time,' is starkly the undervaluation of the time taken to create  objects consumed, the time it takes to repair damage  and the time it has taken to transport objects which are buy from their place of manufacture.  Through working timber by hand and repetition I want to enact process and reveal the time it takes for objects to come into existence. By using a natural or recycled materials I wish to engage with and reflect upon the material and origin of objects that we consume.

I believe that it is the role of the artist and the function of art to ask more questions than provide answers.
