Brigid Vidler was born in Sydney, Australia. She is currently living and working London, UK and occasionally in Sydney.
Art is the accumulation of ideas, the processing of information, it consists of snippets of conversations, news articles, thoughts, and sensations. Each piece is driven by a desire to understand and more importantly, to question. Social justice, inextricably linked to the environment is a recurring theme in this work.
I explore ideas of time and resource through process and material. The inordinate focus on time in relation to the individual in contemporary society.... ie, 'my time,' is starkly contrasted with the under-valuation of the time taken to create, consume, transport and repair objects. I am interested in manual processes which by their very nature require time. By using natural or recycled materials I wish to engage with and reflect upon resource and consumption.
Questions are more interesting than answers.
