Preservation - Conservation  8.5 x 8.5 x 4cm Huon Pine, Timber Dye, Tuna Can

The Pangolin, once known for  being the most trafficked animal in the world, has now become notorious for potentially being the linked with the SARS COV 2 strain of the Corona Virus jumping to humans.

Huon Pine has strict legislation protecting it from industrial and commercial use. Due to its wonderful qualities, its oil content makes it impervious to insects and is waterproof, it has a great aroma and it can be bent and shaped without splitting. It can be polished to a fine lustre. This Huon Pine, like most used today was salvaged by divers from timber which was in a valley which was flooded 50 years ago.  Since being protected, the very slow growing Huon Pine has begun to regenerate in the wild.
